September Issue: Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington & Linda Evangelista Cover American And British Vogue
THE SEPTEMBER COVER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT AND BIGGEST ISSUE OF THE YEAR FOR FASHION PUBLICATIONS. SEPTEMBER IS ALSO TRADITIONALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT MONTH OF THE EDITORIAL CALENDAR.
U.S. /U.K. — The September 2023 issues are now arriving on the Internet and newsstands around the world. Magazines are going all the way out with their eye-catching covers and statement-making editorials. Some September issues even weigh more than a pound and have hundreds of pages.
Candy Pratts Price once said, “September is the January in fashion.” September’s fall fashion issues hold a lot of weight and most luxury houses spend the most amount of advertising dollars in this particular issue. The September issue always sets the tone for the next year in fashion and culture.
If you’re a magazine lover, chances are you know how important the September issue is. A lot of time and hard work goes into it. There was once a point in time when you barely saw a woman of color on the cover of a September issue.
It used to be hard for black and brown women to get onto the covers of magazines because “they did not sell”. That has been proven a myth. Now more and more women of color are on the cover of mainstream magazines, including September issues. And this is beyond epic.
Let us not forget 2015, when we saw the first surge of women of color on September issues.
Iconic supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista cover the September 2023 issue of American and British Vogue. The two Vogue titles shared the September cover.
Photographer Rafael Pavarotti photographed the issues, styled by British Vogue‘s editor in chief Edward Enninful. The models looked stunning in sleek all-black looks: Campbell in Versace, Crawford in Bottega Veneta, Turlington in Versace and Evangelista in Michael Kors.
Vogue‘s 2023 September edition will be available on newsstands on Aug. 22. Read the full cover story at vogue.com.
