SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA — It’s not another Golden State Warriors championship, but a major event is coming to the Bay Area. Gucci is heading west for their resort (cruise) show.

The Italian fashion house will stage its cruise 2021 collection in the City and County of San Francisco on May 18, although a venue and time hasn’t been announced at the time of this post.

The brand’s creative director Alessandro Michele has chosen the American city for its history as a center of liberal activism and for being a cultural melting pot “where antidotes to discrimination have been cultivated, sowing the seeds for freedom of self-expression for many,” read a statement.

This approach mirrors Michele’s vision for the brand, which has been hinging on diversity and promoting the right to be oneself since he took the creative helm in 2015.

Last December 2019, DM Fashion Book reported that Versace will unveil its resort 2021 collection in a still undisclosed location in the USA (see it here).

Miuccia Prada will cruise to Japan for Prada‘s resort 2021 show (see it here). The runway show will take place on May 21, but the location of the event is still undisclosed. This will be the first show the luxury brand present in Japan.

Then, editors and buyers will have to fly back to Europe on May 27 to discover the Dior lineup. Actually, the resort fashion tour will kick off in April with the Giorgio Armani runway show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In September 2019, we reported that Chanel will stage its 2021 cruise (resort) collection on May 7, 2020 in Capri (see it here) and will happen just a few days before Max Mara’s cruise runway event in St. Petersburg on May 25.
