American Designer Christopher John Rogers Wins 2019 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund
NEW YORK, UNITED STATES — Brooklyn -based fashion designer Christopher John Rogers has been announced as the winner of the 2019 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. He will receive a $400,000 cash prize plus a year of mentorship.
The winner of one of America’s most prestigious fashion awards for emerging talent was announced during a gala dinner and fashion show at Manhattan‘s Cipriani.
This past September at New York Fashion Week, Rogers presented a vibrant, joyful collection featuring organza ruffles and exaggerated church hats.
As the winner of this year’s grand prize, he follows in the footsteps of designers including Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, Brock Collection, Telfar, and, last year, Pyer Moss.
Danielle Hirsch of Danielle Frankel and Reese Cooper were named runners-up of the 2019 award, and will receive prizes of $150,000 each, as well as mentorship.
“With this year’s Fashion Fund finalists, we’ve seen not only great design and talent, but a wonderful commitment to progressive and inclusive values,” said Anna Wintour, editor in chief of American Vogue.
“Fashion should never be divorced from the values of the world and this year’s designers have taken that to heart.”
CFDA President and CEO Steven Kolb added: “The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund continues to foster not only creative design talent but also an entrepreneurial spirit required in today’s changing fashion landscape. This year’s finalists represent the best of American fashion’s future.”
