THE DESIGNER SAID HIS SPRING/SUMMER 2023 COLLECTION, WHICH WAS STAGED THIS PAST OCTOBER DURING FRIEZE LONDON WILL BE THE LAST FOR HIS NAMESAKE BRAND.

LONDON, ENGLAND — Today, Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons revealed on Instagram that he is shuttering his namesake label after “an extraordinary 27-year journey.”

I lack the words to share how proud I am of all that we have achieved. I am grateful for the incredible support from my team, from my collaborators, from the press and buyers, from my friends and family, and from our devoted fans and loyal followers. Thank you all, for believing in our vision and for believing in me,” the designer said.

Simons launched his own label in 1995. He been Prada‘s co-creative director since February 2020 (see it here), and has also done stints as the creative director of Christian Dior in Paris, and Calvin Klein in New York.

He will continue to work at Prada alongside Miuccia Prada. Simons’ hire at the time was seen by industry observers as a succession plan orchestrated by the Milanese fashion house.
