Heritage retailer Hunter has hired Daniel Shaw to be its new design director, replacing Niall Sloan who resigned earlier this summer to join Escada.

Shaw joins from British designer brand Christopher Raeburn, where he led the design studio as design manager. In this role, Shaw worked directly with Raeburn to design his men’s and women’s collections, and was instrumental in delivering the London Fashion Week shows as well as key collaborations with brands such as Rapha, Eastpak and MCM.

At Hunter, Shaw will be responsible for design across all collections within Hunter Original and Hunter Field.

Alasdhair Willis, Creative Director, said: “I believe in Daniel we have found that very rare commodity, a designer that not only understands how to deliver design integrity, but can do it while always maintaining a commercial position and retain visibility of the consumer.”

His key strengths lie in his relevance as a designer, his ability to deliver products that align to the respective consumer needs of both Hunter Original and Hunter Field, his commercial acumen and his overriding enthusiasm for this opportunity.”
