Chanel to Stage Cruise 2027 Show in Deauville

Chanel is heading back to one of the locations deeply connected to the history of the house.

The French luxury maison has announced that Matthieu Blazy will present his Cruise 2027, also known as the Resort 2027 collection in Deauville, Normandy, on April 27. The seaside resort holds particular significance for Chanel, as it was where Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel opened her first ready-to-wear boutique in 1912.

The upcoming show will mark Blazy’s second cruise collection for the house and continues his approach of exploring locations tied to Chanel’s heritage. Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion at Chanel, described Deauville as an important chapter in the maison’s history and said the house is looking forward to seeing Blazy’s interpretation of the location.

Deauville is far from unfamiliar territory for Chanel. The brand previously celebrated its connection to the resort with its Fall 2024 runway show, transforming the Paris venue into a recreation of Deauville’s famous boardwalk. The presentation was accompanied by a campaign starring Penélope Cruz and Brad Pitt, inspired by the classic French film Un homme et une femme (A Man and a Woman), which was filmed in Deauville.

Blazy has already demonstrated an interest in Chanel’s historic ties to French coastal destinations. For his first resort presentation for the maison after becoming creative director in 2024, he staged the Cruise 2027 collection in Biarritz, another location closely associated with Coco Chanel.

Chanel’s relationship with Deauville also extends beyond fashion. The house has partnered with the Deauville American Film Festival since 2019, further strengthening its connection to the Normandy resort and its film culture.

The announcement places Chanel among the major French fashion houses revealing plans for the upcoming cruise season. Dior recently announced that Jonathan Anderson will present his resort collection in Shanghai on May 14, marking another major international destination for the cruise calendar.

With Deauville serving as the backdrop, Chanel’s Cruise 2027 show will bring Blazy’s evolving vision for the house into direct conversation with one of the places that helped shape its history.
