Dior Sets Shanghai for Cruise 2028 Show

Dior is heading to Shanghai for its next major cruise collection, with Jonathan Anderson set to bring the house’s Resort 2028 presentation to the Chinese fashion capital on May 14, 2027.

The upcoming show will mark Anderson’s first major Dior presentation in Asia since taking over as the French luxury house’s creative director. It also continues Dior’s longstanding connection with Shanghai, a city that has played a recurring role in the maison’s history and global expansion.

Anderson will follow in the footsteps of former Dior creative director John Galliano, who presented the house’s Cruise 2011 collection in Shanghai in 2010. The presentation coincided with the opening of a Dior boutique and a retrospective exhibition celebrating the maison’s history.

Dior’s relationship with Shanghai dates back even further. Founder Christian Dior referenced the city during his Spring 1948 haute couture collection, naming one of the collection’s standout looks “Shanghai.”

In more recent years, Shanghai has remained an important destination for Dior. The house presented its Pre-Fall 2021 collection at the Long Museum, while last year Dior celebrated its iconic Miss Dior fragrance with an exhibition at the Fosun Foundation.

The Cruise 2028 presentation will be part of a busy period for Anderson at Dior. The Northern Irish designer is scheduled to unveil his Spring 2027 women’s ready-to-wear collection in Paris on September 29, followed by a Pre-Fall presentation in Dublin on December 4. The Dublin event will mark Dior’s first runway show in Ireland.

Anderson previously presented his Cruise 2027 collection in Los Angeles in May, continuing Dior’s tradition of taking its cruise collections to major cultural destinations around the world.

With Shanghai now confirmed as the destination for Cruise 2028, Anderson’s upcoming Dior calendar is set to expand the house’s global runway presence while drawing on the maison’s longstanding relationship with the city.
