Megan Thee Stallion is entering a new chapter of her career, officially joining the Interscope Records family through a new distribution partnership with the label and her independent company, Hot Girl Productions.

Announced Friday, August 14, the partnership will allow Megan to continue releasing music independently through Hot Girl Productions while receiving global distribution and strategic support from Interscope. Most importantly, the Houston-born superstar will retain ownership of her masters and publishing.

I’ve always wanted to create music on my terms while building a legacy that extends beyond the industry,” Megan said in a statement. “This distribution partnership with Interscope allows me to stay true to my creative vision while also increasing my global reach. I’m excited for this next chapter of growth and the expansion of my Hot Girl Productions empire.”

The deal marks Megan’s departure from Warner Music Group, with whom she entered an innovative agreement in February 2024. That arrangement similarly allowed the rapper to maintain ownership of her masters and publishing while utilizing Warner’s distribution, promotional and global marketing resources.

Interscope Capitol vice chairman Steve Berman praised Megan’s influence and entrepreneurial approach, describing her as an artist with “an unmistakable voice” and an extraordinary ability to shape culture on her own terms. He also highlighted the label’s excitement to work alongside Roc Nation in supporting her next era.

That next era could be arriving sooner rather than later.

Megan has continued teasing her highly anticipated Act: III album, which is expected to bring back her beloved Tina Snow alter ego. Following news of the Interscope partnership, she took to X to celebrate the new chapter and gave fans exactly what they wanted to hear:

ACT III IS ON THEE WAY HOTTIES.”

The project will follow Megan’s 2024 self-titled album, Megan, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 64,000 total album-equivalent units, according to Luminate. She expanded the era later that year with the Act: II deluxe edition.

Megan is also coming off a major career milestone. Earlier this month, her 2020 collaboration with Cardi B, “WAP,” officially earned Diamond certification, marking her first Diamond plaque.

With three No. 1 hits and 43 appearances on the Billboard Hot 100, Megan Thee Stallion has firmly established herself as one of hip-hop’s most influential artists of her generation. Now, with full ownership of her music and a new global distribution partner behind her, the Houston Hottie appears ready to take the next chapter of her career to an even bigger stage.

And if Megan’s latest announcement is any indication, the “Act: III” era is officially on the horizon.
