Donatella Versace is entering a new chapter.
The designer announced Monday, September 21, that she is partnering with Revolve Group on a new fashion and beauty business, where she will serve as chief creative officer. The venture marks Versace’s first major independent brand project since stepping away from her longtime creative leadership role at the Italian fashion house.
The name of the new brand and its initial product lineup will be revealed in the coming months, with the business expected to launch first with beauty before expanding into fashion.
“I believe creativity should be fearless, inclusive and alive in the world. I have always been inspired by the next generation, in music, film, art and, of course, fashion,” Donatella said in a statement.
“This partnership gives me the freedom to speak to that generation in a completely new and personal way, through beauty and fashion. Revolve understands something I believe deeply: culture comes from connection. Together, we want to create that connection with a new voice, a new look and a new energy.”
The venture will initially target consumers across the United States, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. Donatella will bring her creative direction, cultural influence and global audience to the project, while Revolve will provide its technology, consumer insights, operational infrastructure and direct connection to millions of consumers.
“Donatella is one of the defining creative voices of our time. This partnership gives that vision an entirely new platform and the freedom to build something from the ground up,” said Michael Mente, cofounder and co-CEO of Revolve Group.
Mike Karanikolas, Revolve’s cofounder and co-CEO, added that combining Donatella’s creative authority with the company’s technology, infrastructure and global reach creates an opportunity to develop a new business with a long-term focus.
Raissa Gerona, president of brand and partnerships at Revolve Group, said Donatella’s understanding of fashion, culture and the next generation was central to the partnership.
The company plans to build the venture as a digital-first platform extending beyond traditional retail. Revolve’s ecosystem includes social media franchises, podcasts, YouTube programming and experiential events such as Revolve Festival and Revolve Golf.
The partnership also follows Revolve’s recent expansion into creator and celebrity-led businesses, including its joint venture with Cardi B and the development of its luxury label Revolve Los Angeles, which counts Bella Hadid as an ambassador. The company’s portfolio also includes brands such as Helsa and Camila Coelho.

Donatella Versace’s Next Chapter
The announcement comes after a major transition in Donatella’s relationship with Versace.
In March 2025, she was named chief brand ambassador of Versace after nearly three decades as the house’s creative force following the 1997 death of her brother, Gianni Versace. Donatella played a central role in shaping Versace’s identity, connecting the house’s Italian luxury heritage with celebrity culture, music and the street.
Versace was sold by the Versace family to Michael Kors Holdings in 2018 in a deal valued at $2.1 billion. Michael Kors Holdings later became Capri Holdings. In April 2025, Prada Group completed its acquisition of Versace for an enterprise value of €1.25 billion.
Donatella’s influence on fashion extends well beyond Versace. She championed emerging designers and creative talent throughout her career, including Christopher Kane, Jonathan Anderson and Anthony Vaccarello.
Born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, Donatella is the younger sister of Gianni and Santo Versace. She joined her brother Gianni at the family business, which was founded in 1978, and eventually became one of the most recognizable creative figures in contemporary fashion.
She became head designer of Versus in 1994 and later helped expand Versace across multiple categories, including home, jewelry, watches and fragrances. Her work also included collaborations with some of the industry’s most influential photographers, including Richard Avedon, Irving Penn and Helmut Newton.
Now, Donatella is taking that creative vision into a new business of her own.
With beauty serving as the starting point, the upcoming venture with Revolve could eventually extend into fashion and a broader lifestyle ecosystem. More details, including the brand name and first products, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
