Rebecca Hall Enters a World of Mystery in Maison Margiela’s Fall/Winter 2026 Campaign

Maison Margiela has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2026 campaign, titled “ANONYMITY,” starring British actress Rebecca Hall in a mysterious cinematic story that blurs the line between fashion and psychological thriller.
At the heart of the campaign, Hall encounters a masked doppelgänger dressed identically to her, creating an eerie confrontation that plays directly into Maison Margiela’s fascination with anonymity, identity and transformation.
For Margiela, the masks are far more than cinematic props. Each one was individually created by the house’s Artisanal atelier in Paris, continuing the maison’s longstanding exploration of concealment and the idea that clothing can exist independently from the identity of the person wearing it.
The campaign builds on the atmosphere established during Maison Margiela’s Fall/Winter 2026 Shanghai presentation, where the collection was presented among towering stacks of shipping containers. The unconventional setting evoked the atmosphere of a chaotic Parisian flea market, reinforcing the collection’s themes of discovery, imperfection and reconstruction.
“ANONYMITY” takes those ideas and pushes them into a more theatrical and unsettling world.

The Fall/Winter 2026 collection embraces Maison Margiela’s signature deconstructed approach, bringing together Edwardian-inspired silhouettes, distressed furniture-style tapestries, second-skin jersey and intentionally unfinished garments. Shift dresses appear to be reconstructed from vintage upholstery, while Bianchetto-painted skirts feature cracked, weathered finishes. Tailcoats are dramatically shortened, and knitwear is given a deliberately worn and almost chewed-up appearance.
Accessories continue the collection’s experimental language. Floral tapestry appears across the iconic Tabi, while the second-skin Tabi Claw returns. A new Link bag draws inspiration from rounded vintage coin purses discovered within the house’s archives. Ceramic-trimmed Box bags and leather chain jewelry complete the collection’s distinctive accessories lineup.
With Rebecca Hall at its center, “ANONYMITY” transforms Maison Margiela’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection into something more than a traditional fashion campaign. It is mysterious, unsettling and deliberately unconventional—a cinematic extension of the house’s enduring fascination with anonymity, identity and the art of disappearing behind the clothes.
