The New Balance “Liquid Metal” NB Abzorb U2000 Is Set to Drop in 2026

New Balance is gearing up for a futuristic moment in footwear. Designer Yue Wu recently previewed the upcoming “Liquid Metal” NB Abzorb U2000, and the silhouette is already turning heads.
Shared via Instagram, Wu revealed that the project was developed for Spring 2026, utilizing the same tooling as the original U2000, a design first created by Charlotte Lee. While the concept may seem simple at first glance, Wu emphasized the extensive work that went into perfecting the shoe—from base materials and component proportions to surface finishes and subtle design details like corner radii.
According to Wu, countless trials were conducted to strike the right balance between design vision, comfort, and manufacturability, resulting in a sleek, metallic-forward execution that feels both experimental and wearable. He also expressed gratitude to the development team for helping bring the concept to life.
The New Balance “Liquid Metal” NB Abzorb U2000 is expected to release sometime in 2026. Stay tuned for more details as the drop approaches.
