Giambattista Valli is officially taking back control of his namesake Paris fashion house. According to reports confirmed by D.M. Fashion Book, the designer has reached an agreement to buy back full ownership of the brand from Artémis, the private investment firm owned by the billionaire Pinault family.

Artémis first invested in the label in 2017 with a minority stake before assuming majority control in 2021. While financial details surrounding the deal remain undisclosed, both parties described the agreement as the start of “a new chapter” for the house.

This agreement now enables me to fully regain control of my brand and to pursue its development with enthusiasm and energy,” Valli shared in a statement, while also thanking Artémis for supporting the maison over the years.

Artémis chairman François-Henri Pinault praised the partnership and Valli’s creative direction, calling it an “inspiring collaboration.” Pinault, often seen front row at Valli’s runway shows alongside his wife Salma Hayek Pinault, wished the designer success as he enters the next phase of his business journey.

The move comes after reports that Artémis had quietly explored selling the label in recent months through banking firm Rothschild & Co. During that period, Valli also stepped back from the fashion calendar, canceling his haute couture presentation in January and skipping the Fall 2026 ready-to-wear season during Paris Fashion Week.

Founded in Paris in 2005, the Giambattista Valli brand quickly became known for its romantic couture aesthetic and glamorous red carpet appeal. Before launching his label, Valli built an impressive résumé working with legendary Italian fashion houses including Fendi and Krizia, before spending seven years designing ready-to-wear alongside Emanuel Ungaro.

Over the years, his designs have been worn by celebrities including Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner and Kerry Washington, helping cement the label’s place in luxury fashion. Valli also previously served as creative director of Moncler’s Gamme Rouge line, where he blended couture sensibilities with elevated sportswear from 2008 to 2017.
