Ezekiel “Zeke” Lewis Steps Into A New Era As Epic Records Chairman & CEO

A major shift is underway at Epic Records as industry veteran Ezekiel “Zeke” Lewis takes the reins as chairman and CEO, marking a new chapter for one of music’s most influential labels.
Lewis’ rise has been years in the making. After joining Epic in 2018 and ascending to president in 2023, he now steps into the top role, reporting directly to Rob Stringer, chairman of Sony Music Entertainment. The move signals a continued push toward artist-driven leadership at a time when the industry is evolving faster than ever.
“Through his experience and knowledge in a senior creative capacity at Epic over the last eight years, Zeke is eminently qualified to take the label forward as its leader,” Stringer shared, emphasizing the trust Lewis has built with both artists and executives alike.
For Lewis, the mission is clear: center the artist in a crowded, digital-first era.
“Music has always been about the artist—their vision, their voice, their story,” he said. “In a landscape full of noise and distraction, we have an opportunity to give creators something rare: a place where they are genuinely seen, supported, and set up to thrive.”
That philosophy is backed by a résumé that speaks volumes. A Grammy-winning songwriter and producer, Lewis has helped shape the sound and direction of a diverse roster including 21 Savage, Future, GIVĒON, Madison Beer, Meghan Trainor, and Travis Scott—while also collaborating with established acts like The Black Eyed Peas.
Before Epic, Lewis built his foundation at Motown Records, working alongside talents like Ne-Yo, Erykah Badu, and Migos. His production and songwriting credits extend even further, with contributions to artists such as Justin Bieber, Mary J. Blige, and Usher.
Beyond the boardroom and studio, Lewis has also played a key role in shaping the creative ecosystem. He founded Bar Music Group and co-founded The Clutch, the hitmaking collective behind records for Britney Spears and Ciara.
As Epic looks ahead, Lewis’ appointment reflects more than a leadership change—it’s a cultural shift. One rooted in creativity, trust, and a renewed focus on amplifying artist voices in an era where authenticity cuts through louder than ever.
