Derwin James Jr. Flexes ERD Style Ahead of Historic Chargers Extension

Derwin James Jr. stepped out in a standout look featuring an Enfants Riches Déprimés “The Reality of God” T-shirt paired with red rhinestone-embellished denim shorts. The Los Angeles Chargers safety completed the outfit with classic Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, accessorized with a diamond chain and matching watch.
In related news, James has once again reset the market for NFL safeties. The Chargers and the four-time All-Pro agreed to a three-year, $75.6 million contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing agent David Mulugheta. The deal reportedly includes $57.5 million guaranteed, making James the league’s highest-paid safety for the second time in his career.
James was entering the final season of the four-year extension he signed in 2022, which previously made him the highest-paid safety in NFL history. His new contract averages $25.2 million per year, surpassing the deal signed by Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton in 2025.
Since being drafted by the Chargers in 2018, James has established himself as one of the franchise’s most important defensive players. Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz emphasized throughout the offseason that extending James remained a top priority, with the agreement finalized as the team opened OTAs.
