A new creative chapter is unfolding at Mulberry. The British house has appointed Christopher Kane as creative director of its upcoming women’s ready-to-wear collection, set to debut this September before arriving in stores and online in January 2027.

The move signals a pivotal moment for Mulberry as it expands beyond its accessories stronghold. The appointment aligns with the brand’s ongoing “Back to the Mulberry Spirit” strategy—an initiative centered on revitalizing creativity, elevating craftsmanship, and reigniting global growth.

Chief executive officer Andrea Baldo described Kane’s arrival as a defining step forward. His blend of conceptual creativity and material sensitivity, paired with a distinctly British design perspective, is expected to push the house into new territory while staying rooted in its heritage.

For Kane, the role marks a significant milestone in his return to the fashion spotlight. After closing his namesake label in 2023—once run alongside his sister Tammy Kane—the designer has been steadily reestablishing his presence in the industry. The duo still retains ownership of the Christopher Kane and More Joy labels.

Throughout his career, Kane has built a reputation for innovation and boundary-pushing design. His résumé includes a notable collaboration with Donatella Versace on the Versus line, as well as a strategic partnership with Kering from 2013 to 2018. He later regained full independence after buying back the group’s stake in his brand.

Now, with Mulberry, Kane steps into a role that not only marks his return—but also positions him at the forefront of shaping a new era of British ready-to-wear.
