Olympic gold medalist Quincy Wilson delivered a jaw-dropping performance at the New Balance Nationals Indoor, edging out the competition by the slimmest possible margin in the 400-meter final.

The Bullis School senior clocked in at 45.37 seconds, breaking his own national record and securing yet another championship title. Right behind him was Jayden DeLeon of Montgomery Blair High School, who finished just 0.01 seconds later at 45.38 in a photo-finish race that instantly became one of the meet’s most memorable moments.

With the win, Wilson captured his fourth consecutive 400-meter title at Nationals, completing a rare clean sweep—having dominated the event every year since his freshman season. The consistency and dominance solidify his legacy as one of the greatest high school quarter-milers the sport has seen.

As he prepares to take his talents to the University of Maryland, Wilson leaves behind a historic mark, widely regarded as Maryland’s greatest 400-meter runner of all time. His arrival is expected to immediately elevate the program’s national profile.

Quincy is a generational athlete with the potential to remain at the top of our sport,” said Olympic gold medalist Andrew Valmon, head coach of Maryland’s track and field program. “Having him compete in his home state with a strong support system gives him everything he needs to continue thriving.”
